An optimistic meditation on puppy raising for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and other adventures in chaos. Murphy (Wella x Farrell), the first pup we raised, is a male black Lab who graduated in June 2007 and is working as a guide dog in Wyoming. The second pup, Nettie (Quarry x Evan), a female yellow Lab, arrived in mid-February 2007 at 6 months old and stayed with us for a year. She graduated in August 2008 and is working as a guide dog in Kansas.
I'm a slightly harried wife, mother and journalist, with one understanding husband, two great kids, two cats and usually at least one Lab, managing controlled insanity at a place we call Chaos Hill.

Similarly, all my puppies respond to the name Maggie... maybe I should be noting that on ther project records. At least they also know their real names (although I suspect Ellis may think his name is Buddy).

Lol, I did the same for the first couple weeks I had Blitz...Poor thing, I bet if I hadn't been careful, he would now be responding to the name Jaylie.
And every time a puppy sit, I call the pup Blitz.

Blitz, before Nettie came to live with us, we babysat three yellow pups back-to-back: Nettie, Grant and Kessler. By halfway through Grant's stay, my husband began calling them all "Random Yellow Pup"!
